I had an awesome time this weekend visiting the Fargo Fiber Festival. It was so nice to connect with so many other fiber enthusiasts.
There were so many great demonstrators from needle felting, wheel weaving, board weaving, embroidery, a sheep to shawl competition, wet felting soaps, and many more. There were so many great things to try I had to go back a second day.
The sheep shearing demonstrations was especially interesting. The sheep was so calm in the hands of the shearer. When it go up and left behind that heavy coat of wool it did a little kick and dance.
On day two I decided to take a class. Fiber Preparation for Spinning where we learned may different fiber prep processes and got to try, and bring home, samples of each. Here I am working on a drum carder, with a flick carder, and with combs but she also had a picker, a blending board, hand carders and so many different kinds of fiber we could experiment with. The only bad thing about this class is I wanted to spend a week exploring all there was to learn.
If you are ever in the Fargo area during early August you have to stop in and try some of the wonderful ways fiber can be used.
